Insurance Verification Chrome Extension

The RevenueWell Insurance Verification Chrome Extension helps you complete insurance verification tasks directly through supported insurance portals.

Depending on your organization's configuration, the extension can help you:

  • Sign in to supported insurance portals.
  • Enter verification codes during portal sign-in.
  • Fill supported portal registration forms.
  • Open a member's eligibility directly in the insurance portal.

Extension features are enabled by organization. If you cannot access the extension, contact RevenueWell Support.

Before You Begin

It might be helpful to have:

  • Google Chrome installed on your computer.
  • Access to your insurance portal credentials.
  • RevenueWell open and signed in.

The extension uses your RevenueWell session and active organization, so keep the RevenueWell web application open while using the extension.

  • Install the Chrome Extension

    1. Open the RevenueWell Insurance Verification extension in the Chrome Web Store.
    2. Select Add to Chrome.

    3. Select Add Extension to confirm.
    4. Wait for the installation confirmation.
    5. Sign in to RevenueWell and open Insurance Verification.
    6. Open the RevenueWell Insurance Verification extension from the Chrome toolbar. The extension automatically signs in using your active RevenueWell session.
    7. After you sign in, the extension side panel displays your Portal Connections.
      • Credentials Added: Insurance portals where credentials have already been added.
      • Credentials Not Added: Insurance portals that do not yet have credentials connected.

  • Connect and Sign In to an Insurance Portal

    1. Open the RevenueWell Insurance Verification extension side panel.
    2. Under Portal Connections, select a portal listed under Credentials Not Added.
    3. Select Sign in.

    4. Wait while the extension signs in to the portal.

    5. If the portal requires a verification code, complete the verification-code step.
    6. Wait for the portal's signed-in page to appear.
      • The portal displays a status notice while the sign-in process is running.
    7. Select Cancel if you need to stop the sign-in process.


    If Sign-In Fails

    1. Try signing in again when the portal is ready.
    2. Check that the credentials saved in RevenueWell are correct.
    3. Follow any instructions provided by the insurance portal.

    Do not create a second portal login if you are having trouble signing in.

  • Set Up a New Insurance Portal Login

    If Set up with extension appears on the portal credential setup page, you can use the extension to open the registration page and fill supported information.

    Set Up a Portal Login

    1. In RevenueWell, open the portal credential setup page.
    2. Select Set up with extension.

    3. Go to the new browser tab opened by the extension.
    4. Review the information that has been filled in.

    5. Complete any fields that RevenueWell does not have information for.

    6. Review each registration screen.
    7. Review the portal's terms and other required information.
    8. Select the portal's final account-creation button to complete registration.

    Information the Extension May Fill

    Depending on the portal, the extension may fill supported registration information such as:

    • Generated username and password.
    • Tax ID.
    • Practice address.
    • City and ZIP code.
    • Provider NPI, when available.
    • Security questions and answers.
    • Supported provider or registration selections.
    • Agreement and terms checkboxes.

    Important: The extension never submits the final account-creation step for you. You must review the information and submit the final account creation yourself.

    If a Required Field Is Missing

    If RevenueWell does not have information required by the portal, the extension leaves the field blank and highlights it.

    1. Complete the highlighted field.
    2. Select Continue or Next.
    3. The extension continues on the next supported registration screen.
  • Open a Member's Eligibility in the Portal

    You can open a member's eligibility directly in the insurance portal from an eligibility request in RevenueWell. Open in portal appears only when have registered the related insurance portal and you have accessed the eligibility request. 

    To open a member's eligibility in the insurance portal: 

    1. Open the eligibility request in RevenueWell.
    2. Select Open in portal.

    3. If needed, allow the extension to sign in to the portal.

    4. Complete any required verification code.
    5. The extension opens the member in the insurance portal and runs the browser lookup.

    6. The lookup appears under Most recent for that portal in the extension side panel.

  • Review Recent Member Lookups

    The extension keeps your five most recent member lookups for each portal in your browser.

    Each recent lookup displays:

    • Member
    • Member ID
    • Time
    • Status

    Lookup Statuses

    • Running: The lookup is still in progress.
    • Completed: The lookup has completed.
    • Verified: The member's eligibility was verified.
    • Member not found: The member could not be found in the portal.
    • Failed: The lookup was not successful.

    Select Open next to a recent lookup to run it again. Select Clear to remove the recent lookup list for that portal.

  • Complete Verification Codes and Two-Factor Authentication

    Some insurance portals require an additional verification step during sign-in or other portal actions.

    The extension supports verification through:

    • Email codes: The extension waits for the verification code sent to the email address associated with the portal.
    • Text message codes: The extension waits for the verification code sent to the phone number associated with the portal.
    • Authenticator apps: When the portal's authenticator secret is available, the extension can generate the verification code.

    Set Up Verification

    1. Select the verification method provided by the portal.
    2. If using text verification, enter or confirm the phone number.
    3. If using an authenticator app, complete the portal setup until the extension captures the authenticator secret.
    4. Complete the portal's final enrollment or confirmation steps yourself.

    After setup, RevenueWell can use stored authenticator information to generate future codes when supported.
     

  • Troubleshoot the Chrome Extension

    Problem Recommended Troubleshooting Steps
    The Extension Isn't Detected
    1. Confirm that the RevenueWell Insurance Verification extension is installed and enabled in Chrome.
    2. Reload the RevenueWell page.
    3. Open the extension side panel again.

    If the extension is still not detected, contact RevenueWell Support. Include your organization, the 

    Portal Sign-In Failed
    1. Try signing in again when the portal is ready.
    2. Check your portal credentials in RevenueWell.
    3. Follow any instructions provided by the portal.

    Do not create a second portal login.

    Portal Registration Stopped

    If registration stops while using Set up with extension:

    1. Check the status notice displayed on the portal.
    2. If the extension is waiting for information, complete any blank or highlighted fields.
    3. Select Continue or Next.
    4. The extension proceeds on the next recognized screen.

    Registration filling runs for up to 10 minutes after the registration tab opens.

    If the status notice disappears, return to the RevenueWell portal setup page and select Set up with extension again.

    "Set up with extension" Isn't Available

    The Set up with extension option may not be enabled for your organization.

    Use the available portal setup option or contact RevenueWell Support.

    Verification Code Not Entered 

    If the extension cannot enter the verification code automatically, enter the code directly on the portal page.

    If the portal requests a new code after the attempt ends, start the action again and complete the new verification step.

    When to Contact RevenueWell Support

    Contact RevenueWell Support if you continue to experience issues with the Chrome Extension after following the troubleshooting steps above.

    When contacting Support about an extension issue, provide your organization, the page where the issue occurred, the action you were attempting, and the approximate time of the issue.
