Before You Begin
You're ready to start editing! The RevenueWell Block Theme Editor is designed to make everyday website updates simple—whether you're refreshing your team page, updating office hours, adding a new service, or replacing photos.
In this guide, you'll learn the most common editing tasks, including updating text, formatting headings, adding images and videos, and saving your changes. Most edits only take a few clicks. Let's get started!
Step 1: Your content area: the part you'll edit
When your page opens, the main part you'll work in is your content area — the body of the page, where your text, images, and videos live. This is yours to edit freely, and it's what the rest of this guide is all about.
Around your content is the template area — the header, navigation menu, banners, and footer. These are shared across your whole site, so editing them is handled at a different access level. If you'd like to make a change there, just reach out to your account manager — we'll either help you make it, or escalate your editor permissions so you can make those changes yourself. We just want to make sure you're properly trained first.
Why it works this way: keeping the shared template separate protects your site from unexpected site-wide changes, keeps every page consistent, and lets us make sure everyone is set up and trained for the areas they're editing. It's there to help you edit with confidence — not to limit you.
If you click on the header, footer, or a banner, you'll see a short note that the area is handled separately. Just close it and keep working in your content area — or reach out to your account manager if you'd like a change there.
Step 2: Type and edit your text
Click anywhere in your content area and start typing — what you see is what your visitors will see.
Edit existing text: click into a paragraph or heading and type to change it.
Add a new paragraph: press Enter at the end of a paragraph.
Headings vs. paragraphs: use a Heading for a title and a Paragraph for body text — most edits are just these two.
Good to know: the highlighted "smart fields"
As you edit, you may notice small pieces of text with a pink highlight — often your practice name, phone number, or a doctor's name. These are smart fields (sometimes called tokens or shortcodes): placeholders that automatically fill in your practice's information from one central place.
They fill themselves in. The pink highlight shows the live value — your real practice name, phone, and so on. It's pulled from your global practice settings, so it stays correct everywhere it appears.
You can't type over them. The text inside a smart field isn't editable on the page, because it comes from your central practice information rather than this page. If a value is out of date (for example a changed phone number), contact your account manager — we'll update it globally and it changes everywhere at once.
You can remove one. If you don't want a smart field in a particular spot, select it and delete it like any other text.
Why they're handy: smart fields keep your practice details consistent on every page and let you update them in one place — no hunting through pages to fix a detail that changed.
Step 3 — Format your text (bold, italic, size)
Select some text to bring up the formatting toolbar:
Bold or italic — click B or I.
Change the text size — adjust the font size in the settings panel on the right (handy for an intro line).
Step 4 — Turn a paragraph into a heading (and change its level)
Headings break your page into sections and make it easy to scan. You can turn any paragraph into a heading — and change a heading's level — without retyping it.
Paragraph → heading: click into the paragraph, then click the block type icon at the left of its toolbar and choose Heading. (To change it back, do the same and choose Paragraph.)
Change the heading level: select the heading and use the level control in its toolbar to pick Heading 1 through Heading 6. Think of it like an outline — H1 is the biggest, most important title, and H2, H3… are nested sub-sections beneath it.
Tip: use one main title, then an H2 for each section and H3 for points within a section. Consistent heading levels keep your page tidy and easier to read.
Step 5 — Add an image
Click where you want the image and add an Image block.
Choose a picture from your media library (or upload one), and resize it if needed.
Step 6 — Add a video (YouTube)
The easiest way to add a video is to paste its link — no uploading, no settings to fuss with. Most clients use YouTube; here's the whole process:
Add a Video block where you want the video to appear.
Copy your YouTube link. On YouTube, open your video and copy the web address from your browser's address bar (it looks like
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=…), or click YouTube's Share button to copy it.Paste the link into the box on the video block (it reads "Paste a YouTube or Vimeo link, or enter a video ID"). As soon as you paste a full link, the block recognizes it as YouTube and adds your video automatically — there's nothing else to click.
What you'll see: in the editor, a YouTube video shows a still preview (its thumbnail) with a play button — it doesn't play inside the editor, and that's normal. Click Save and view your live page, where the video plays as usual.
Using a different service? A Vimeo link works the same way — paste it. For Wistia, open the block's Settings panel on the right, switch the provider to Wistia, and choose your video from the library.
Step 7 — Save your changes
When you're happy with your edits, click Save (or Update) in the top corner. Your changes go live on your website.
In short: your content area is yours to edit — type, format, turn text into headings, add images and video, align things, and click Save. For changes to the shared header, menu, banners, or footer, reach out to your account manager — we'll help, or set you up to make those changes yourself.
