Why can't I use my office number for texting?
If you go through the steps to "Enable Your Office Line" and you receive a message that your phone number cannot be received as a "textable phone number", there are some reasons why!
Each phone number has two portions: Voice and Text. Where every number uses the voice portion, not every number uses the Text portion.
It is important to understand that not all numbers are eligible for having their "SMS Hosted" (being able to text). This can be for a few reasons
- The "texting" portion of your number is already hosted
- The number you are attempting to host is a mobile number
- Certain VoIP numbers are not supported. (Due to the complexity of VoIP there are some numbers that can be hosted and some that cannot)
If you are still interested in this feature, we suggest contacting your phone service provider to inquire about your current number and its options.
